Columbia Networks has been operating in Canada since 2007 as a privately held company providing Broadband Networking, Cloud Computing, and Professional Services. Columbia Networks Inc. is a federally incorporated company in Canada operating as a non-dominant carrier and as such operates under the regulations set out by the CRTC (Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission). Columbia Networks operates two computing facilities in Canada. Both computing facilities are designed for extreme efficiency, low latency to major centres in North America, and are powered by local hydro electric generation stations. The founders of Columbia Networks, Dan Salekin and Gary Wachniak, both have a long history of delivering reliable Networking and Computing services in Canada as well as internationally for both small and large businesses.

Who We Are

Gary Wachniak

Gary is a co-founder of Columbia Networks and has over 25 years of Telecommunications design and operations experience. Prior to Columbia Networks, Gary developed data network architectures to support the growth of the Internet in Canada with both large national and regional telecommunications providers. This experience included establishing links with major cities in Canada and around the World. Gary has also been a senior design team member for several large projects including the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion Project, both projects commissioned multi-function fibre based IP networks to run voice, video, Internet, security and other services. Gary's years of experience designing high capacity fibre optic and advanced IP solutions, along with his operational experience are invaluable to our clients and future Columbia Network’s plans.

Dan Salekin

Dan is a co-founder and the President/CEO of Columbia Networks. Dan brings over 25 years of working experience in the Computing and Data Networking industries to Columbia Networks. Dan has been employed as a senior manager within Canadian business enterprises during the past 18 years and has developed a solid understanding of the telecommunications business in Canada as an entrepreneur, senior architect, and senior director of technology. Prior to co-founding Columbia Networks, Dan held the role of Senior IP Architect at TeraGo Networks where he developed the commercial services for the launch of TeraGo and was instrumental in growing the client base to over three thousand customers. Prior to TeraGo, Dan held a senior role with another startup company, GT Group Telecom, as a senior director of National Data Networks. At GT Group Telecom, Dan managed a multi-million dollar budget and a technology department. Dan was successful at developing and launching GT Group Telecom's commercial services as well as a national data network across Canada.

Dan has worked in Russia and Saudi Arabia and delivered service to international destinations such as England, Holland, Singapore, South Korea, and the USA.
